Install DigiCert PKI Client

You need to install DigiCert PKI Client and enable the DigiCert Authentication Client Extension before you can enroll for your certificate. DigiCert Authentication Client Extension lets your browser communicate with DigiCert PKI Client to manage your certificates.

Overview of DigiCert PKI Client installation and enabling DigiCert Authentication Client Extension:

  • Download the DigiCert PKI Client installer.

    Click Download. Then, click Run.

    After you install PKI Client, you will need to reboot your system.

  • Enroll for a certificate by clicking on the link in your enrollment email.

    If you are prompted to allow the DigiCert Authentication Client Extension to run, click the Allow this installation checkbox then Continue.

  • If you have already installed DigiCert Authentication Client browser extension, ensure that it is enabled.

    On a new Firefox browser tab, enter about:addons in the URL bar.

    Click the Extensions tab on the side.

    Look for DigiCert Authentication Client Extension.

    Click the Enable button.

    Close the about:addons tab. Your enrollment should resume.

Install DigiCert Authentication Client browser extension

You need to install DigiCert Authentication Client browser extension before you can enroll for your certificate. DigiCert Authentication Client browser extension lets your browser communicate with DigiCert PKI Client to manage your certificates.

Prerequisites:

  • You must have local administrator rights on your computer.
  • Your browser security setting should not be set to High.

Overview of DigiCert Authentication Client browser extension installation:

  • Download the DigiCert Authentication Client browser extension from here

  • If you have already installed DigiCert Authentication Client browser extension, ensure that it is enabled.

  • If prompted, click Download to install PKI Client.

    Follow the prompts to install PKI Client.

  • Enroll for a certificate.

    After you install PKI Client, you will need to reboot your system. Once you have rebooted your system find the enrollment email and click on the link to begin the enrollment process again.

Note: if you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 11, no extension is required.
